WAYQEYCUNA
Just as Andean women weave their quipus [textile artefacts made of ropes and knots] as memorials, the Argentinean artist Tiziano Cruz takes the path back to his childhood to reconnect with his community.
Based on archival work, the piece proposes a reflection on how racial hierarchies and structures of domination operate in a world in which neoliberalism violently devastates cultural, vital and collective traces.
Wayqeycuna is the last piece in the trilogy "Tres Maneras de Cantarle a una Montaña", in which the artist articulates, through a series of poetic gestures, his childhood memories of the interior of northern Argentina with political manifestos on the art market and class privilege.
Soliloquy
Soliloquy (I woke up and hit my head against the wall) is his latest creation that premiered as a co-production of the Buenos Aires International Festival - FIBA 2022. This is the second piece of a trilogy.
How to be a migrant in the same territory? This biography explores the collective memory of a town in northern Argentina, from a society that highlights whiteness. He reflects and questions his role as a contemporary artist, on the spaces of consecration, on the concessions before the institutions of power arrive if there is a place to arrive.
It consists of two parts: a site-specific dance (built together with a local community) followed by a performative conference (unipersonal); both combine theatre and stage performance placing the autobiographical research and regionality (as features, identity gestures of a specific place) as the germ of the creation of scenic materiality.

In September 2023 the ANTI Festival International Prize for Live Art will be awarded for the 10th time in Kuopio, Finland.
The nominees for the 2023 ANTI Festival International Prize for Live Art are: Tiziano Cruz (Argentina), Autumn Knight (United States), Jota Mombaça (Brazil) and Joshua Serafin (Philippines/Belgium).
“While each of them comes from a unique artistic and geographical background, these artists are all exceptional change-makers in Live Art. They invite us to engage socio-political and ecological realities outside of Eurocentric systems and show us what it means to dream and practice alternative futures”, the shortlisting committee, Pelin Başaran, John Tain and Elisa Itkonen, writes about the shortlist.
This year the ANTI Festival Prize for Live Art will be awarded for the 10th time in its history. The Shortlist LIVE! programme presents the nominees’ performances live during the ANTI Festival taking place in Kuopio. An international jury considers the nominees’ work from the past few years and announces the winner of the award at the ANTI Prize Party on Saturday 16th September 2023. In honour of the 10th anniversary of the Prize, the first artist to win the award, Cassils (Canada/United States), has been invited as the chair of the jury.
